If I have heart blockages, will you be able to treat it at MCC?

We do not do interventions at this time. We are a non-emergent facility and we prefer to give our patient's time to decide the best course of treatment, after discussing the results of the procedure and options with their Cardiologist and family.

How long will I be at MCC for my procedure?

You will be at our facility for about five (5) to six (6) hours total. You will arrive one and a half (1.5) hours prior to your procedure and lie in bed for approximately one (1) hour following your procedure. Then you will be out of bed for an additional 1/2 hour for observation and then discharged.

Are you equipped to handle emergencies?

All of our staff is Advanced Life Support Certified. We are fully equipped to handle any emergency. In addition, we have emergency transfers readily available.

Will lunch be provided?

The patient and one family member will receive a complimentary lunch from St. Louis Bread Company.

How long has MCC been open?

We have been currently in operation since December of 1999.

Are you affiliated with any hospitals?

No, we are a free standing cardiac catheterization lab, if you need further treatment you may choose any hospital.

Can my family stay with me during my stay?

We have large suites that will accommodate you and your family members. To help make your visit more enjoyable, there is cable television and a movie library.

When can I go back to work?

We suggest 1-2 days if you are not experiencing any problems.

When will I find out about the results of my test?

When you return to your room. the Cardiologist will discuss in detail the results of the procedure and options for further treatment if necessary. The Cardiologist or staff will review the video of your cardiac cath. The video is yours to take home.

Is the procedure painful? Is the procedure painful?

There is slight discomfort, similar to the dentist numbing your teeth, when the groin is prepped with a local anesthetic. Otherwise most patients are very surprised at the ease of the procedure.
